Halifax is located in Windham County, Vermont.  It is one of Vermont’s oldest towns and was granted in the 1750’s.  Halifax received its name after the second Earl of Halifax, George Montagu-Dunk.  

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Halifax was home to 782 residents.  This included 312 households and 209 families.  The average family size was 2.92 and the average household size was 2.51.  Halifax, Vermont is comprised of 39.8 square miles of land and 0.1 square miles of water.
