Loudon is located in Merrimack County, New Hampshire.  It is situated 22 miles from Manchester and 76 miles from Boston.  Loudon is a suburb of Concord, the state’s capital.

Loudon was incorporated in 1773 and was originally part of Canterbury.  It is named after the John Campbell, the fourth Earl of Loudon. 

Loudon is home of the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which attracts hundreds of thousands of race fans every year.  It is also home to the motorcycle race, the Loudon Classic.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Loudon was home to 4,481 residents.  This included 1,611 households and 1,256 families.  The average family size was 3.08 and the average household size was 2.78.
