Barrington is a rural, bedroom community located in Strafford County, New Hampshire.  It is located near the New Hampshire and Maine seacoasts, the White Mountains and Lake Winnipesaukee.  It is just minutes away from the University of New Hampshire in nearby Durham. 

Barrington is home to many woods, lakes, ponds and rivers.  Ayers Lake, Swain’s Lake, Stonehouse Pond and Isinglass River all offer fishing.  Ayers Lake Farm Campground and Barrington Shores campground offer camping.  Other outdoor activities include hiking, ice-fishing, golfing, boating, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.

Barrington is home to one of the few War Dog Memorials in the country.  It is located at Barrington’s Pine Grove Cemetery.  

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Barrington’s population at the time was 7,475 people.  This included 2,576 households and 2,075 families.  The average family size was 3.07 and the average household size was 2.71.  Barrington is comprised of 46.6 square miles of land and 1.9 square miles of water. 

Barrington Real Estate and Homes:  In 2000, there were 3,147 homes and an average of 68 homes (houses / condos) per square mile.  In 2007, it was estimated that real estate in Barrington was comprised of a total of 3,672 homes.  This included 2,742 single family homes and 329 multi-unit homes.
