Ogunquit is a summer resort town located in York County, Maine. The town is home to three miles of white sand beaches and the cliff-side Marginal Way, with over a mile-long trail of coastal views. It is also home to the Perkins Cove and the Ogunquit Playhouse.
The town’s name meant “coastal lagoon” to the Abenaki Indians. The town became a popular tourist attraction and art colony in 1898. Several large seaside hotels and inns were then built to house the summer tourists.
According to the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau, Ogunquit was home to 1,429 residents. This included 668 households and 346 families. The average family size was 2.41 and the average household size was 1.84.
