Montague Massachusetts is located along the Connecticut River in the Pioneer Valley in Franklin County.  It includes these five residential villages: Lake Pleasant, Montague Center, Montague City, Millers Falls and Turners Falls. The town was settled in 1715 and incorporated in 1754.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Montague was home to 8,489 residents.  This included 3,616 households and 2,169 families.  The average family size was 2.9 and the average household size was 2.31.  Montague Massachusetts is comprised of 30.4 square miles of land and one square mile of water.
